Schooooool's Out For Summa!
I cannot express in words how much I LOVE the summer! It has been so nice being back at the gym, not getting up when an alarm goes off and having time to knock out to do lists that I've been saving for months!
Here's what the Assuntos have been up to leading in to the summer (since it's been a solid two months since I last blogged- oops)...
Eating yummy meals outside on our back patio while Bella plays in the yard.

Replacing old faucets in our kitchen and bathroom.
Going to Houston for my 10 year high school reunion.

Ryan did a bike ride from Austin to the Shiner Brewery. (I drove and was also exhausted when I finally got there)
Going to Ryan's family's Iron Chef competition in Lago Vista.
And....
Going to Houston for my 10 year high school reunion.
-See my friends Angie Burns, Thomas Sitton and two of Ryan's super fun cousins get MARRIED!!!
-Go to Riviera Maya with the Pi Phi girls for our "Decade of Friendship" (yes, we made t-shirts)
-Go to Charleston, South Carolina on vaca with my wonderful hubby.
-Get ready for another school year... We are moving from the 3rd floor of our building out to the portables. Adios craziness that goes on the halls. Hello pulling straight up to my classroom in the morning.
Happy Summer!!!

Breakfast of Champions
In the mornings I am never ever hungry when I wake up, or really even for the first few hours I'm up, but I know it's good for my metabolism to eat, so I do. The problem is, that after I eat, I'm always staaaaarving like an hour later. So, I've discovered a few breakfast meals that keep me full and are healthy.
#3 The Healthy Waffles
#1 The Smoothie
Ingredients: bananas, oj, yogurt, frozen berries, whey protein
We buy the berries at Costco, they're cheap and have lots of antioxidents.
Mix in a blender in whatever proportions you like.
You can always freeze for later if you make too much.
#2 The Healthy Oatmeal
Just add water and heat
If we run out of smoothie ingredients, this is my go-to.
#3 The Healthy Waffles
Ingredients: whole wheat waffle mix, frozen berries (same from smoothie) If we're home for a Saturday morning, we make these with some eggs. Yum!
Props to my awesome husband who makes me a smoothie EVERY SINGLE MORNING before I go to work. I have a long, traffic-filled drive so it's perfect for the road.

My puppy can prep you for a pedi
I wouldn't call it a Spring "Break"
Normally I would look forward to spring break as a time to get out of town and visit friends or go somewhere new. Although we did get to do some of that, Ryan and I decided to make this week a "getter done" kind of week.
Goals:
1. Finish our picture collage in the entryway.
2. Begin to redo the office, starting with new furniture.
3. Freshen up the front yard.
4. Watch as much basketball as possible.
5. Check our brackets as often as possible.
6. Somehow begin to repair our doggie destroyed backyard.
Here's what it looked like along the way...
Mowing the front yard
Hanging out with Bella in the driveway.
And some of the finished products....

Planting
More planting
And the biggie- my friend, Allison Bradley's, boss was re-landscaping his yard and needed to get rid of some grass sod that he had, so we transplanted it from his yard to ours. My car is a disaster, but it was well worth it.

Let's Go Fly A Kite
Ryan and I had a great Sunday afternoon outside yesterday at the Kite Festival at Zilker Park. The weather was GORGEOUS!
Bella had lots of fun too but did decide at one point that she needed a little break from playing with all of the kids that were petting her.

Yay for all of the free Austin outdoor events that happen year round. We love it here!
